Playgrounds, splash-parks and family fun in Rockhampton

Koorana Crocodile Farm

This working crocodile farm is located half an hour drive from Rockhampton or Yeppoon.

Koorana Crocodile Farm offers fully guided tours conducted twice daily, it’s a great way to get up close and personal and learn more about these accent dinosaurs. You can hold a baby croc and if you time your visit right you may even be lucky enough to see a baby croc hatch out of its egg!

The onsite restaurant serves an array of crocodile dishes from Croc Curry, Croc Burgers and Steaks, as well as standard meals. Crocodile leather products are also available from the shop.

Botanical Gardens and Zoo

Rockhampton Botanic Gardens and Zoo is a great day out for all, with more than 60 species of native and exotic animals to meet. Make sure you visit the newest member of the chimpanzee family, baby Capri. She is full of spunk and very entertaining as she climbs about causing mischief like all toddlers do!

Just across the road you will find the gorgeous Botanical Gardens which is the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic lunch or a meal from the garden cafe.

Kershaw Gardens and Water Park

Built for families, parties, small events and outdoor activities, the central section of the Kershaw Gardens is a must do. A big favourite is the huge play park that includes five levels of play for kids and adults too. There are also self peddling monorail bikes, a huge flying fox and human sized spinning hamster wheels.

Right next to the play park is the water play area, which is perfect to cool down after all that crazy playing. If you have packed the bikes or scooters you can also take a cruise up the bike path to the magnificent waterfall.

Fitzroy Adventure Playground

This epic playground is along the the banks of the Fitzroy River opposite the Heritage listed Quay Street. it is great fun for kids and adults! Sitting at eight metres above the ground, the Skywalk is the focal point of the playground where you can safely move between the towers via bridges. With jumbo slides and rock climbing walls for older kids, as well as a dedicated play area for toddlers, it has something for everyone. It even has lighting programmed to turn on at sunset and remain on until 10 pm.
