1770 LARC! Tours

1770 LARC! Tours operate two pink amphibious crafts to explore the gorgeous National Parks and pristine waterways bordering the Town of 1770 – in Queensland’s Southern Great Barrier Reef region.

The ex-military Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo (LARC) vessels have the perfect capability to visit isolated beaches, cross sandbars and tidal creeks, access 35 metre dunes, and to climb the steep headland to the historic island lightstation of Bustard Head which has Queensland’s only operating lighthouse open for the public to enter!

You’ll hear the tales of tragedy and triumph as early settlers and light-keepers struggled to tame this remote wilderness. The guided lightstation tour includes maritime artefacts, photographs and memorabilia. Wildlife spotting, the thrill of sand boarding down the towering dunes and spectacular panoramic views of this untouched paradise will provide a memorable LARC experience for guests of every age.
