Capricorn Coast 5 Night Itinerary
Reef, Rainforest, City, Coast, Keppel, Koala’s and Crocs (self-drive or hire car required)
Day 1:
Arriving into Rockhampton, park up and take a walk along Quay Street, a stunning stretch of heritage listed buildings right in the city.
Stop for lunch at The Boathouse, overlooking the iconic Fitzroy River.
While you are there, visit the Rockhampton Museum of Art, and on your drive to the Capricorn Coast (30 minutes), visit Nurim Circuit Boardwalk at Mount Archer National Park.
Here you will witness stunning views over the city of Rockhampton.
Arrive at your Yeppoon accommodation (trade ready options include Salt Beachfront Yeppoon, Echelon Apartments Yeppoon, Beaches on Lammermoor, Oshen Apartments Yeppoon and Rosslyn Bay Resort).
Day 2:
Wander down for morning coffee and a swim at the free Yeppoon Lagoon enjoying views over to the Keppel Bay Islands. The Lagoon is located in the heart of Yeppoon and is a short 2-5 minute walk depending on your accommodation choice.
Meander through Yeppoon’s main street and enjoy street art, friendly locals and genuine Aussie charm.
Head out to Koorana Crocodile Farm for a spot of lunch (11:30am – 1:30pm) before joining the 1:30pm guided tour which incorporates crocodile education, safety and conservation techniques for protecting crocs in the wild.
Head to Emu Park for a fish and chip dinner on the beach, making sure to check out the incredible Singing Ship and The Centenary of ANZAC Memorial Walk.
Overnight in your Yeppoon accommodation.
Day 3:
Enjoy your breakfast in Yeppoon, choosing from one of the many beachfront cafes.
Head to Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary and Capricorn Dinosaur Park and Mini Golf Yeppoon. Be sure to catch the 1:00pm wildlife carer experience to get insider’s knowledge into the rehabilitation and vital breeding programs of native animals that the sanctuary offers.
Stop by Byfield General Store for a delicious lunch featuring fresh local produce.
Head to Stony Creek for a natural tea tree fresh water swim – your skill will feel silky soft!
Check into your accommodation. Ferns Hideaway Resort has beautiful log cabin style accommodation or Castle Rock Farm has a gorgeous chalet or some Aussie bush style camping in structured swags on an eco-deck. Make sure you’ve purchased marshmallows for roasting over an open fire!
Day 4:
Depart Byfield National Park early and head to Keppel Bay Marina. Top tip – the award-winning The Waterline Restaurant is a terrific breakfast spot, with their ‘Cowboy Benedict’ showcasing their own local Banana Station Beef.
Jump aboard Keppel Konnections 9:00am ferry to enjoy a full day exploring Great Keppel Island with its many bushwalks and 17 beautiful beaches.

Day 5:
Get ready to experience the Southern Great Barrier Reef through the eyes of the locals onboard Freedom Fast Cats Adventure Cruise. Enjoy guided snorkelling, boomnetting, and the glass bottom boat. Lunch is included in the full day activity (7 hours).
Finish your day with a cocktail and watch the magical sunset from the Hideaway Bar.
Day 6:
Depart Great Keppel Island on either the 10:00am, 2:00pm or 4:00pm ferry for your onward travel. If you are looking for a leg stretch before a day of driving, take a walk around Bluff Point Circuit, Kemp Beach (part of the Capricorn Coast National Park). Bluff Point Circuit is just a 30 second drive from Keppel Bay Marina.
Accommodation:
- 2 nights in Yeppoon
- 1 night in Byfield National Park
- 2 nights on Great Keppel Island
Clients not suited to back to basic, 3-star accommodation can opt to stay in Yeppoon and do any of our mainland based experiences that go to Great Keppel Island including Freedom Fast Cats (high speed catamaran), Keppel Explorer (adventure style speed boat), and Funtastic Cruises (luxury sailing).
Capricorn Coast 2 Night Itinerary
Day 1:
Arrive at Rockhampton Airport where your shuttle collection will be waiting to drive you to the Capricorn Caves (if self-drive, add Capricorn Caves to your clients’ onward travel north instead of Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary or Koorana Crocodile Farm. Add either of those experiences to day one).
Shuttle drop off to Yeppoon accommodation (trade ready 4.5-star options include Salt Beachfront Yeppoon, Echelon Apartments Yeppoon, Beaches on Lammermoor, Oshen Apartments Yeppoon and Rosslyn Bay Resort).
Explore Yeppoon Lagoon, sip a cocktail at Vue Wine Bar & Restaurant, dabble in some boutique shopping, and immerse yourself in our authentic coastal town which is filled with friendly locals and genuine Aussie charm.
Day 2:
Your shuttle pick up will drop you to Keppel Bay Marina for your Keppel Konnections ferry service to Great Keppel Island for the day. Enjoy lunch at Great Keppel Island Hideaway’s Bar and view the underwater magic with a self-guided snorkel. Alternatively, jump onboard the Freedom Fast Cats full day Adventure Cruise which includes a glass bottom boat tour, lunch and guided snorkel.
If you are travelling with Keppel Konnections from Keppel Bay Marina, set aside some time for breakfast at The Waterline Restaurant. Their ‘Cowboys Benedict’ features superb local Banana Station beef.
Return to the mainland on the 3:45pm or 4:00pm ferry.
Shuttle back to your Yeppoon accommodation.
Day 3:
Visit Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to native and rescued wildlife. Hear about their rehabilitation and important native breeding programs. Explore the Sanctuary on a self-guided tour, but don’t miss the 1:00pm wildlife carer talk. OR, visit Koorana Crocodile Farm and join the 10:30am tour for an important educational and conservational perspective of the prehistoric beasts.
Transfer back to Rockhampton Airport.
